Alwin Djajadiningrat is a pianist and theorist, currently studying Jazz at the Utrecht Conservatory with Bert van den Brink. Ever exploring, his fascinations have travelled from straight ahead jazz to Bach, Chopin or Stravinsky to the intricacies of twelve tonal music and back, highlighting his ever inquisitive character. Currently performing with the Llajta quartet.
Early Life
Starting at age four with pianolessons, music hasn’t been anything less than a vital part of his daily routine for almost his entire life. From classical lessons with Huub de Leeuw, to the Utrecht Cathedral Choir School (and eventually the Utrecht Cathedral Choir) to jazz lessons with Jeroen Thijsen at age 10. Getting exposed to the joy of playing in ensembles during summer schools in Greenwich and participating in the Prinses Christina Concours led him to apply to the bachelor Jazz and Pop in Utrecht where he has been studying with Bert van den Brink, Gé Bijvoet, Bart Soeters and Tim Langedijk.
